Since this is my first time owning red ear sliders or any turtles, i still dont know their natural behaviors.

But i notice alot that they seem to kinda fight with each other, like a few times I've seen 2 of the turtles come out to the dry spot ad stand on top of each other, and a 3rd one approcches and lunches a bite at one of them and pushes both back to the water.

sometimes when feeding they all seems to fight and push over the seem food stick eventhough there is more foodsticks elsewhere in the lagoon.

also they seem to push each other alot with the feet in the lagoon.

is this like they playing around? or are they in danger of killing each other?

What size of the tank are they in? They could be fighting for territory.

small, one of those plastic lagoons.

the bigger tank wont be here for a few days.

My brother has 2 turtles himself.
Male and Female and they walk all over each other all the time.

Standing on top of each other sounds just like they are trying to bask together under the basking light you provoded for them (right....? ).
Turtles bask together.
It's a great thing to see in the wild.

Your tank is wayyyy too small, but you know that& is fixing that problem.
You do know you could have picked up a really cheap large storage bin right? A lot of people who keep reptiles do that.
It's cheap...& roomy.
Are they hungry?
How much are you feeding them?
Remember they are in a carnivorous stage right now.
They want more meat products. ;)

Also, don't use aquarium gravel for the bottom of their tank, looks pretty, yes, but go with river rocks..why? They can injest it& die from impaction. :)

Since I live in florida I keep them outside where it is nice and warm, also I let the sun Hit the part of the Swamp where they can get it, so they get the ration of UV light.

Right now I only feed them Pallets and some lettuce, I havent feed them any crickets cause I cant stand them, crickets and coackroaches are ny weakness

here are some pics in the jumbo tank

is it possible that my turtles are attracting other insects into my house? I've seen 2 nasty crickets and another insect in the balcony where I keep my turtles, and I've never had insects there before. or is it just coincidence?

As i said in the other thread, having two turtles i know that even that bigger bowl you have them in now will soon be to small for them!
Sliders can easily get to 12" and that dont take long at all!
What diet are you feeding them?
What your calling fighting may be the mating dance that males do, although they are a little young for that!
My male always does it to my female and she just pushes him away! Maybe shes a lesbian! haha
Anyways you will soon need a bigger tank and they will be fine.... howeber i dont know about turtles but if you have two males and one female, you may be in trouble when they hit sexual maturity!

right now I feed them mostly pallets and then some lettuce and fruits.

They seem to eat the pallets right away, but take a really long time to try the other stuff.

And how quickly do these turtles grow? I mean, how many months will they stay that size for?

That diet aint really the best!
At that age they should be having bloodworms, tinned and dried cat and dog food, live foods such as crickets and mealworms, a few prawns (but not many as they become dependent on them), lots of lettece and other veg and fruit, muscles etc etc
Serioulsy you need to vary the diet whist they are young ats they become rally fussy like one of mine is now!

I would say that they will stay that size for a month or two..... within 9 to 10 months they will be about 5 maybe 6"... speaking from experience that is!
Trust me, if you dont want them when they get bigger there is no chance you can get rid of them because there are so many unwanted turtles in both america and the UK!

Anything else you want to know just ask!

Yeah males do a mating dance!! hehe
But yours look too small for that.

I'm glad they are getting natural light.
They can get horrid problems without a light source...

& Since you live in Florida, maybe their water is warm enough..
so you might not need a heater as I do.
I live in Newfoundland where it can get really cold.
It's a bad thing about Canada!
I'm really happy to see you like these turtles.:D
I love mine as well!!

Your turtles look so adorable!! :good:

Your new enclosure looks roomy for these turtles now,but remember as they grow they'll need bigger aquariums ;)
But for now,you are good! Much better than the lagoon.

It is hard to find homes for turtles,I think thats why I have a soft spot for them.
I definately want more in the near future ;)
