I was thinking of getting this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200675888760?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619

plus the 12v adaptor. The whole lighting unit on my small hex tank has gone hence the need for a new light. It's a low tech tank, 21 litre hexagon with java fern, anubias and cabmoba (sp?)

Are these strip led's actually any good for plants? My previous light was a T5 6W

I'm afraid I can't answer your question directly but they look a bit cheap and nasty, however the following may help:

I have bought some blue LED for night viewing from This Chap. He is extraordinarily helpful and will sell you stuff off ebay as well. Send him a message and state your requirements, if he's got what you want he'll send you a Paypal invoice and he sends the stuff very quickly.

To get good led lights to grow plants you need to spend some big $$$. Most " aquarium" led lights are not going to grow much. Now if you get some real grow lights for plants that indoor growers use you could grow some plants.

As of right now aquarium led lights have a long way to go.

my LED's are growing plant great...they do need to be HO led's though. Have to disagree there Snowflake, TMC are doing some great LED's for growing plants, then theres also the DIY route.

love Leds.
