Are Fish Your Favourite Pets?

Some of us are just newbies to the aquarium hobby. Some of us have been in the hobby for a few months, maybe a year now, y'know? Some of us have been keeping fish for years. Some of us are dedicated aquarium hobbyists who take good care of ALL their fish. Some of us have gigantic fish rooms, breed fish and sell them to stores to make a profit. Still others of us have really blossomed in our hobby, been overrun with fish, and taken it to a whole new level!

But what I want to know is, if it really all came down to it....

Would you say that fish are your favourite kinds of pets?

I think I would.... Right now I don't have a hamster of my own, and while I get lots of joy from my sister's hamster, she's not "my own" pet, yet all the fish in the 2 fish tanks in my room are "mine".

I'm more into the whole hobby as a whole then into a certain fish. My favorite pets are my dogs there more like my kids. If one of them were to die I'm cry my eyes out. If one of my fish die I'm upset but don't cry I'm more into the reason why they did die and sometimes start blaming myself. Like I should have seen this coming or should have done this or shouldnt have done that etc.

Seawater fish - Clown fish / Orca Killerwhales

Freshwater Fish - Oscars , Betta's , Blood parrots

Coldwater - Japanese Koi/ Red cap oranda's.

Though. If i could keep a Killerwhale in my backgarden i would though they need ALOT of space.

Maybe you've seen Orca's Amber since you live in canada : i need to see one

i don't think that fish are my fav pet. my rottweilers are really friendly, and i can play with them, unlike the fish. and i can play with my guinea pigs and goat, and occasionally the chickens lol. but my fish are really interesting, and it's really cool breeding them, and just like watching them. so they are definitely A favourite pet, but not THE favourite pet that i have.

I don't live in Vancouver. I live in Ontario. There's only orcas in Vancouver, and I've only been there once. When I was, like, 8. Or 9 or 10 or something. Aaaaah, I don't know. The closest I ever got to seeing an orca was a splash of white on a wave in the sea while we were on an orca seeing ferry trip.

I love my fish, don't get me wrong, but I think that I love my dog more than I love my fish.
I can actually interact with my dog, as with my fish, they are just in their tank, and there for me to watch.

Nope.. Fish Actully have personalitys if you interact with them.

You can train a fish like you can train a dog.

Back in the day when my mom had a 7ft oscar tank. She used to put a pingpong in there tank and they'd pop it back out.
Then after that. She'd make them jump for food. Then. She Could stroke them.

Betta's are Also the same..?

You can train a fish to an extent like you can train a dog. Some fish like oscars and goldfish can be trained to do more things. But when it comes down to it a dog can be trained to do a lot more then you'll ever be able to train a fish to do.

Yes, I actually do have 2 bettas. I hav deffinately gotten to know then quite well. I have had my first one for almost a year and a half.

I understand what you are saying about interaction with fish, but its just not the same as it is with my dog.

yea i totally agree i love fish,but put it this way if my house catches on fire i would grab my dog,cause well fish can't really fill that part in your heart ment for pets i gess,i love my doggie lol sorry fish but your a sheer 2nd
