When I want to feed my convicts, they go hide behind a few rocks for some minutes before they come out and eat the food.

do all cons do this? or am I that intimidating? :p

or maybe a bad lfs worker abused them and they have a trauma...

I wish I could handfeed them

try helping them trust you.try to move slowly to the tank.
ive done that with my mollies(a lil off topic of course but it works)and now
they practically try to rip off the skin off my arm.feels funny.they think it hurts but it doesnt.

I would think it hurts too, I can see some pretty sharp teeth... :)
I'll let someone else try it first once they dare to come closer :p

oh, my mistake, you were probably talking about mollies, right?
I guess that doesn't hurt indeed :)

I think we need a pic of you to determine this :p

My cons were always scared when they were smaller. Wait till they get around 3-4" and they should toughen up.

I used to have my fish in a room with a low activity level. They never got frightened. Now, they have moved to the main room of the house. After the move, my convict got a bit skittish, but is getting better.

I always have to make sure not to move too fast towards them.

hehe my guppy fry eat flakes from my hands. its kinda kewl. when ever i go to unto my room they all swim to the top of the tank.

theyre just shy. next time you are reading or watching tv just sit in front of your tank and they will get used to you. they will learn ur no harm

Your Cons Have just been moved to a new living enviorment give them time and space theyll be fine, When i got mine though they ate feeders 5 min after being released.
