It's easier, in my opinion, to just buy some crushed coral gravels and keep it in a bag in the filter than to dose with every water change.

Easier, but not as controllable IMO.

Personally though at a pH of 7 I wouldn't be that concerned about their shells dissolving, 7 is pH neutral and will NOT dissolve their shells. Acid is less than 7 pH and alkaline pHs are those above 7.
