Seen a Arcadia Luminaire Arcadia Luminaire 40" T8 Overtank lighting rig for sale.

I guess that the 40" bit means the length of the tubes but will teh brackets on this model fit a 48" tank?

48 inches is 1219.2mm, so the 40" luminaire is no good i'm afraid. You'd need the 48" luminaire.

I think the 40" actually refers to the length of the unit rather than the lamps. My 48" luminaire takes 46" tubes.
