Yep, I do agree that in a smaller tank you don't really need to bother. I pulled the internal filter out of one of the 3g's earlier as it was just too much hassle on the lad. None of the other tanks have filters so I didnt really see the point.

I have to get a new Aqua View because the screws that hold the lens in place in the lid(where the light bulb is located) are rusted really badly. That probably is not helping the fish with it's fin problems. Keep an eye on the screws everybody.

That happened on the very first Aquaview I bought, but I think they may have corrected the problem because I'm not seeing rust on the newer ones (though, admittedly, they may just be too new for rust to have developed yet.) My old one also had a hole where the airline tubing went in rather than a little notch so you couldn't take the lid off very well without having the tubing come with it... I'm glad they fixed that.

Edit: You could probably just go to a home improvement store and buy new screws rather than buying a whole new tank

I took them out of mine because my guys hated the current, even with the valve to slow it down. I'm glad I did because now I get bubblenests almost every day from one or the other of my boys. They couldn't do bubblenests with the UGF because the current was too strong. :)

If you want to lower the current with the aquaview hold the air puump by the bottem and twist the top counterclockwise and lift up it takes a little force to lift it up. :)
