I am unsure what moss this it - it grows differently in all my tanks. I think its spiky or peacock moss but not 100% sure.

It anchors its self onto things like bogwood/slate/volcanic rock/mesh. You can pretty much tie it onto anything using thread/fishing line/hair net
 
Some people make a moss carpet or wall using mesh.
