Thanks CrazyDiamond but I'm afraid this solution doesn't apply to my case.

The filter output is completely different. Take a look at the photo below.

As you see, it is pretty hard to make use of the bottle trick there.

I created a new thread about this issue here.

Finally today my tank is cycled!
I will now buy plants and within a week or so, add Mr Betta and a few shrimp.
Today I'll be making the order, but I would like your views on the quantity.

According to daizeUK's drawing:

Carpet (no 1 in the drawing) > Eleocharis acicularis x 4

Front > Staurogyne repens (not the 1-2-grow) x 1, probably enough for 4 plantlets?

Wood top > Weeping Moss (Vesicularia ferriei) x 2 or 3?

Background curtain > Vallisneria nana x 1 (I'm not sure it will be enough, maybe x 2?)

Side plants (no 3 in the drawing) > Echinodorus parviflorus tropica x 1 or 2

I have an Aqueon Evolve 2 that has a similar setup for the filter. I put a piece of foam in the section where that outflow is as well as the inflow part, which helped slow the flow a bit. I also found that removing the filter on board and replacing it was a smaller internal worked really well. My betta did really well in that. Maybe give that a shot?

Thanks for the suggestions Daize. Lots of reading to do now...

Sheister's betta tank has been a great inspiration and a wonderful tank, I read all the thread and loved it.

My worries now have turned towards the intensity of the filter's flow am I'm trying to sort out a way to make it more comfortable for the betta.
My hope is that the plants will cut down some of the flow.
Unless the flow unroots the plants, which then will be a different story...

Thank you Gizaroo2, I think I'll try solving the issue with the foam.
Which type did you use and how did you tie it to the outflow?
Do you have a photo?

If I can find it, yes I do!

I just used some of the generic aquaclear foam, and cut a piece to size to shove in there. I put it on the inside compartment.

Looking for it as I type. Will post when I find it. :)

Couldn't find my photo....but made one using the same layout. I think in your tank everything is flipped opposite, but otherwise should be similar.

The tank is cycled, planted and ready to welcome its first resident...
