Hello and welcome to my journal of our hobby.

For the record, I do not usually reference the Latin name of plants and animals but I acknowledge there are those who do so I have included these where possible, with links to further information to both provide myself with a reminder and possibly aid in learning (links will typically point to Wikipedia or very occasionally, Google Images).

First Setup: 2015-16

Start up tank (circa 90 litres) with CO2 injection. Stocking included Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentata), Angelfish (Pterophyllum), Opaline Gourami (Trichopodus trichopterus) and Neon Tetra (Paracheirodon innesi). We eventually added a Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus) to the mix.

Plants included Dwarf Hair Grass (Eleocharis acicularis), Christmas Moss (Vesicularia montagnei) and some now unknown pond weed. Plants were dosed daily with fertilisers.

Note: Failed at establishing Monte Carlo (Hemianthus micranthemoides) with no further attempts.

This tank initially used an internal Fluval U3 filter and a generic 150w heater, later upgrading to the Eheim 4+ T, with Tetra substrates (both base and top layers), CO2 injection and a 3.4w Tetra air pump.

Last Setups:

The stocking consists of:
  1. Juwel Delta 90
  2. Juwel Delta 300 (acquired with a brown covering; later removed to reveal original black colour).
    • Eheim 4 Pro + T (27’C)
    • 3.4w Tetra air pump

As they now stand: Side by side.

:hi: Looks a nice size. Good luck. FWIW people mainly use Latin names for certainty. Many fish shops get quite <coff> creative in naming their stock (plants and fish) and shoppers often end up with something completely different to what they wanted.

Tip: Its also a useful tactic for getting to talk to someone who actually knows about fish or plants. Walk into a shop and ask to speak to someone for advice on poecilia reticulata and most assistants will go scurrying off to find someone who knows more about fish. Ask for advice on guppies and they will be happy to let you think they know all there is to know about them
