Aquarium Stands

I'm thinking of buying a bow front tank in the very near future, would making my own stand/unit be advisable, or because of it's sahpe am i best to buy one complete with the tank?

The only advise I could give you on that would be:

Do you have woodworking tools?
Do you like woodworking?

If you answered "no" to any of the questions, I would buy a stand.
I have never looked at a stand for a bow front tank, so I'm not sure how hard it might be to make one. I would look at the stores stands and see how they do it and go from there.

I would think to make a stand for a bow front tank you would have to deal with bending and forming the wood to go around the front. You ideally want all the edges of the tank to be supported so my guess would be that you would have to support the bow. I have to go to the LFS today so I will look at their bow fronts and see how they build them and get some ideas.

well, after some long thoughts and chatting with one of my relatives who i thought could do it for me, i have decided it would more than likely be way to much work.hassle and I am best to buy a complete setup with stand.

Thanks anyway guys for the input, much apreciated

Dont be scared bow front anks are very easy. I have also thought they would be difficult but just go look at one in your LFS you'll see there really isnt any bending of the wood at least all the ones here are built with small slats.. Let me know If you need more info.
