AQUARIUM STAND

Try building your own. At least you can get what you want. I have built two now with no problems, out of veneered MDF.

Nothing to difficult, but supported all round, I am no cabinet maker but the ones i have seen along with prices are a joke for painted metal or plastic coated chipboard.

I have alos built my own tank stand. A couple of junk 2 X 4's can be picked up at any local lumberyard. Most just throw them out. Build a good solid frame in about 10 minutes. Then slap on a sheet of 3/4 inch plywood (Do Not use OSB or partical board) for the top. All you need now is a sheet of paneling to dress up the front and sides (I left one side open to hold as storage, works great). Thought about doing up a lot of them and going to ebay but no time yet. Would any of you buy a decent looking table made of thick wood for say 50-75 bucks? Future thought! :flex:

oh, have you got any pics ??
you could make one for me in beech (i know thats cheeky but i've had a few beers and feeling a little cheeky, would pay materials and postage if the quality was good)

yeah i built my own for my 170L and its holdng up very well, byt then again im a DIY phreak,
but as long as it works, ( mine is out of plastic coated water resistant particle board)
oh and if you build your own be aware of the height of the stand, do you want it the tank to be eye level or sitting down level?

I dont have any pictures, sorry. I am just wondering because my wife is going to be a registered nurse next year which will allow me time to seek a hobby. I like the idea because I'm sure after one or two I would be able to make great looking tables. Thank you for sparking interest. :flex:
