Does anyone know how to build a sturdy aquarium satnd with:

Cheap (not expensive, but not crappy) wood

Toolbox tools (I.e. handsaw w/o power, screws nail, hammer, etc.)

For 10 gallon tank

For someone who should have failed shop class?

Any help would be appreciated. (A cheap aquarium stand for sale in a major fs chain or stand for sale by person'd be nice)

Look for a used night stand. Just the right size for a 10 gal, & might have drawers to keep supplies.

How big is the tank you want the stand for??? I built one for my 30 gal that would easily support a tank twice the size so it was overkill but still fairly cheap. Used 2x4 for the legs with a 2x2 frame work at the top and 3/4 of the way down, the top is covered with 3/4 floor board panels, whole thing is screwed in (make sure you screw pilot holes in first) and also some brackets used. pm me if you want more info. (also put a shelf 3/4 way which just happens to be the same size as the next tank....gf hasn't figured that one out yet:p )

I have my 10 gal. on a nightstand. It works great and like Tolak said with the drawers you have plenty of storage for supplies. If you already have one then it will match the rest of the furniture in your home. It's alot prettier than some of the stands you can buy.

I do have stands that could hold it, but I'm afraid that they'll tip b/c they're somewhat wobbly. A metal stand is $25, but I could try looking for a used stand or go to a thrift store...

If the stand with the wobble is made of wood you could try tightening up the joints with some screws. Use black drywall screws if it's dark wood and you'll never see them.

Thrift store is a great idea, or if you want to build one yourself check out http://www.garf.org/tank/buildstand.asp Plug in the size you want & it tells you what to do.
