Hi...has anyone seen or tried any software for aquariums? Just curious. I saw something on Ebay called Aquatrax (?sp). Looks cumbersome. Thanks. SH

aquascaping...anything..maintenance.....fish atlas.....referenced...just curious . SH

I seen some aquarium software....forget the site (it was a marine one) which allows you to enter information on the fish, a picture, etc, so you can keep track of what you have, and know what has died...it also has a built in notepad like feature....

If i ever find the name of it i'll post it, the software was free if you had less than 5 tanks so i wasn't complaining, lol

Mentioned in the Feb edition of PFK is a program called AquaTrax. It is a computer based aquarium diary where you can record water parameters and fish additions etc.

Sounds like something you could do in Excel or Access easily enough, but I guess not everyone is familiar with those.

Tsk, tsk. :p

It's a good idea to keep a journal, so I suppose it'd be a good idea. Otherwise you could do research at the library or here (therefore you have more than one source for your information) and you can keep a journal with paper and pencils, and aquascape, too.

Thanks Cathy G.....that answered a whole lot. Seems that there is potential for someone to write a good software program. Aquatrax is off my shopping list....I think my clipboard will do as well. Thanks again. SH

I found a freeware program that is really neat for tracking parameters and entering your own notes etc... It fills in the dates and you can keep logs for each tank. Really cool ... and FREE !!!! Check it out ---> http://www.joejaworski.com/aqualog/

Here's the description from his page:

Aqualog is a Microsoft Windows application that can be used to monitor and log any number of marine, reef, or freshwater aquariums. It is designed for both hobbyist and professional use, providing a convenient way to track water test results, maintenance items (such as water changes and chemical additions), and to keep an annotated log of observations.

AquaLog is freeware. You can download the fully functional version below. You do not have to register, give out your email address, or send any money to use it. All I ask is that you do not sell it or distribute copies of it for sale.

I check my parameters about once every 2 weeks or if my fish do anything abnormal. The parameters are always pretty good (low nitrates, no ammonia, more or less neutral PH).

I like the sound of that infinity software link Wolf. Especially the X-10 control! Might have to try that program.

This thread has now got me thinking that my Excel spreadsheet just doesn't have enough features...maybe I need to get my old programming books out!
