hi all

yesterday i removed 2 platies from tank 1 and quaranteened( spelling) them in tank 2 (empty) due to internal parasites and fungy on top of the heads.

i am using aquarium salts because it was recomended in other topics and i have quaranteened them because i also have corys in the tank 1 so salt is a nono for corys true?

the tank 2 levels are good apart from the ph. in tank 1 they were at 6.8 and tank 2 7.6 :-(

the platys are just hiding in abit of rockery that is in there ( t2 ) and are not swimming around at all.

i am guessing that it is shock from the change in ph and also the salt am i right on this? i am unsure wether or not to put them back with the others and try a new method.

any ideas would be great

cheers :(

The higher ph is better for them, but they are probably hiding because its a new tank and they are scared.
As for the salt how much have you got in? I would salt to 2%, which is 1 level teaspoon per gallon and then again in 12 hours time.

hi
i added 1 teaspoon for every 5litres as stated on the packaging that was 11pm last night i have not done any since because i was worried about them. i was thinking of a water change but i suppose that isnt necessery.

has any body else got any ideas about what could be wrong , i have done a 50% water change to rid some of the salty water to try and see if they come out from hiding, it has been 3 days now they are alive just not wanting to swim around if i take the lid off they go beezerk!! poor thing i dont know wether to put them back with the others to see what happens.

Internal parasites if they have them i wouldn't put them back in the main tank, very hard to cure internal parasites, and there is no cure over here for them, and they can get other infecions on top as well like bacterial problems it might be best to end there suffering and not put all the other fish at risk, sorry.
