The plant selection packs seem good value, and without doubt from most sources are good quality, but it just seems a quick fix solution to me.
They arrive, then the same day the tank is filled with plants.
But alot of the time the plants included don't look good together, sometimes a mix will have a varied amount of different light requirements, so some will grow well then others will die and a few weeks later you may find you take out a percentage of the mix that you don't like and or that has died. Then replace with specific plants that you like and have found to do well, and from the mix that you bought in the first place only about 5 species are left.
It can sometimes be much better to find 2 0r 3 types of plants that will suit your tank conditions and buy those first, then build up from there. There should then be no wasted money on plants that later die or look terrible.
