Hey all

In my 19L Interpet Fishbox Moon I have a high output 15W fluorescent energy saver lamp and on Wednesday morning when I went to turn it on and it wouldn't turn on. Didn't have time to do anything about it as was on way out to work. When I got home I tried to put it on again and it went on. Yesterday morning it went on and it was fine but this morning it won't go on again.

As I only got the tank two months ago I called Pets at Home and they said it could either be the bulb or the starter. But I wonder what does the starter do and do you think it would be that as opposed to the bulb, as if the bulb was bust it wouldnt have turned on again surely?

The starter is what lights the bulb. Sounds like it's more likely to be that being faulty than the bulb, seen as if the bulb went, it wouldn't come on at all.

If you only got it 2 months ago, I would ask for a replacement. It's cheap enough to change the starter, but it's a bit of a hassle and if it's still under warranty, there isn't a lot of point.

Called them again and said it should be under warranty and they eventually gave in and as the light is all screwed in to the lid with a cover etc they just said just bring in the lid and we will replace it with the one we have on the shop floor. SORTED :good:

Your fish tanks sound amazing btw :hyper:

I hope to have bigger tanks soon, but as I was just starting off I bought the wee one, Be fine for the little ones room when I get a bigger one lol
