Hi.Ive had a very happy tank full of fish up until now.
Yesterday,we bought another fish to add to the tank (the orange one in pic. below)
All seemed well, until this morning, weve noticed that the new orange one is chasing the grey one(pic below) and seems to be "nudging" it towards the very fine leaved plants we have in the corner of the tank.
Having watched our pond fish spawn,i take it that these 2 are doing the same, although, the orange one does seem to be a little bit too aggressive at times.
Ive tried to capture them showing the fins and underneath in the hope that someone may be able to confirm my suspisions.
I think the orange one is male, and the grey one female. :dunno:

They are cute little goldfish the top one is a ranchu as I have one, the other I think is a oranda, they do nudge other when first put together mine didn't get on for a while but now they love each other, mating behavour the male chases the female and nudges her under her belly, a male has white spots on his fin which look like whitespot till you no what they are.

lovely fish :) male goldfish show breeding tubercles on their gill plates and front pectorial fins, that look like tiny whitespots which can be mistaken for white spot like Wilder pointed out, but sometimes it takes a while for juvanile fish to show their's, just keep your eye to the nudger :)

Thanks for the replies.
Yes,the "nudger" does have a white spot on its tail fin.
As it happens, its all calmed down alittle now(probably worn themselves out)

The white spots should be on the gills and front fins not the tail fin :/

The spot on the tail isnt good does it look like a sprinkle of salt, or just a white pimple spot.

i would do a salt dip to see if it will come off. in a gallon of water add 2 teaspoons of dissolved aquarium salt and let him swim in that for a minute or two.

Just had a really close look at the "male" and im not so sure it is a spot on the tail fin now.
It does look as though its a just a white marking.
Cant see any sign whatsoever of any white spots on the gills or front fins though.
Oh well..ill just keep my eye on things from now on.
Many thanks for replies

If it's his marking that's ok, as long as it isn't a white patch.lovely cute fish you have.
