Anyone used one of these are they any good? the price seems very reasonable compared to named brands

They're great for the price.
I have used them before and no problems.

I've got three (and a 14000lph one) and they're great filters.

The only downside is that the parts aren't the highest quality and can be a bit flimsy, but if you take your time, treat things (like clips and media basket handles) gently and wiggle them rather then force them, they'll be fine.

Do get extra media though, because they don't come with much :grr:

Can you submerge the output spray bar under the water or is it designed to hover over the top of the water? only asking as my fish tank is in my bedroom, so would want a fairly quiet operation?

You can have the spray bar wherever you like :good:

I've got one in my bedroom and it's virtually silent; I think they all are, but as I'm not sleeping in the same room as the others, it's hard to tell. There is very, very low hum, that's all; nothing you won't get used to, as long as you prime properly!

cool looks like i'm sold, will be buying one of these, only other question is its not overkill for a 180 litre tank right? just means my tank will have nice clearer water right?

I've got one running on a 170l and it's fine.
