Aquarium Aeration Starter Set

Hi All

I was skimming through sites, for ideas to add to my tank and came across this starter areation set, which seemed a deal for £9.95, when the RRP price is £40 GBP!

It was that much of a good deal that I thought I had to share it with you all.

Would something like this be good for a 30ltr tank?

OH MY GOD don't get that. I did and I took it back, the pump is so loud! I guess it would be ok if you had your tank somewhere noisy (like a football pitch) but if it's in your bedroom like mine is I wouldn't go there.

The price is great and the pump is fine for that size tank, but I have never had one. There must be a reason its cheap....maybe its the one Teinklecaz took back

The Hydor Airios are much quiter, you should take a look at them (or just a better pump). I didn't like the look of mine in the end (and it wasn't totally silent and I'm a bit ocd about that)but you could easily get used to it. You can get them with lights in too!

Hi Beth i bought this kit from pets at home for £23 {damm},and it is very loud,i thought they all must be that loud,but when my tank is cycled i might look for a quieter one.

It appears being "Quiet" is one of its selling points!

I know, that's why I knew I had a just case for taking it back. I wouldn't have bought it if it didn't say "quiet" on the box.

Do silent pumps even exist?

THere are certainly less noisy once available. I have got a "sera precision", which is pretty silent compared to the airpump I had years ago (can´t remember brand). Of course you can still hear it, but the bubbles are actually much louder than the pump itself.
I just had a look at the bargain, my old one might have been a "Elite", although not blue but grey with green button.

Lol yep that was the first one I had when I was about 13. I think it was an Elite. I stupidly hoped their quality had improved over the years but nope!
