hi all

i saw an ex-display UFO 550 in the LFS today for a good price (tank, stand, heater and filter for £50), and, pending a successful interview tomorrow night (and to put more pressure on myself), might treat myself to it. just wandering though, is the filter in the hood any good, or would i just end up buying another external for a bit more power?

anyone got experience of this tank?

know its not huge, but could make for an interesting community setup.

cheers

nick

Why did you not buy it straight away?! Then if you get the job its a treat for doing well, if you dont get the job use the tank to make you happy again! £50.00 seems like a steal to me

i thought about it, or at least putting a deposit down...but then i've become a bit superstitious, and dont want to pre-empt something as big as an interview! so for now its not mine. however, the shop is about 10 mins away from the office where ive got the interview, and stays open until 8 on a monday, so maybe (here's hoping) making a trip there tomorrow PM. fingers crossed!!

being honest, its not in the best condition - the bottom of the stand is pretty scuffed, but the rest seems just fine (as good as most 2nd hand tanks)...and on getting home today theres a corner of my living room where i know it would look perfect!

any idea about the filter though?

Well good luck for tomorrow. If im honest Ive never been a big fan of stock filters and would rather overfilter a tank anyway. I would go for an external but maybe thats just me.

... actually not so much. manager was awful so may have dodged a bullet there.

maybe go for the sympathy vote on this tank from my mrs and get her to stump up the cash ..
