Aquanano 40, How To Lower The Filter Flow

I have the aquanano 30 which houses a betta, I left the plastic bar off of the powerhead, and slightly off centred it to the outlet hole (if that makes any sense? :/)

I will take a photo tomorrow if you want to see what I mean :)

I thought of that solution too, but what I didn't like was the way the water was agitated in the pump's department (one of the three at the back of the tank).
How long has it been since you made that change? Is your water clean? I mean, did that change affect the filtration of the water?

I did it in April, and the water parameters have been great ever since :)

These are excellent solutions for adjusting flow of filters, good to know for future references.

I like the innovative ways to do such things. Marvellous stuff!!

Keep it up and keep posting your solutions! Great to read about.

@Shelster
Thank you, I think you solved the problem!

@Ch4rlie
Hope somebody else with the same issue finds a solution here!

Great, glad to have been a help :)

Look forward to seeing your finished tank :D

OK, so I solved the problem with a simple spray bar.
Believe it or not, the water surface is almost completely still!
Total cost was 3.99 pounds (DIY).

Hope the Bacopa will grow tall enough to hide the spray bar...

Thank you all for your replies!

Someone asked me about the exact parts that were used for this spray bar, so I thought I'd post this here for anyone interested.

It was a special thing made by the guys at Maidenhead Aquatics.
The parts they used were:
  1. A Reef One Biorb Bubble Tube Cleaner, for having the perfect size for that tank (that's the actual plastic transparent tube that becomes the spray bar)
  2. A suction cup with a rubber ring on it, to hold the spray bar
  3. A silicone (or pvc) tube, coming from the filter to the edge of the spray bar
  4. A green transparent pvc airtube (6-7 cm long) that replaced the nowhere-to-be-found elbow that connects No 2 with No 1
Here are some photos that will probably help you understand the way this thing works.

No 1 above doesn't have any holes, you need to do them yourself with a dremel or a very hot nail. Make sure you sand the edge so that if your fish come in contact with the tube they don't nip any fins or skin.

Please note that the bigger you make the holes, the less the flow will be.

Hope this helps!
