I'll put it on there, there doesn't really seem to be any downsides. Better safe then sorry, I guess!

the downside is you'd have to clean the intake filter more often...maybe once a week...clean the main filter every two weeks or so by rinsing/squeezing in tank water. You could remove the intake filter once fish grow a bit.

It's not hard. Just rinse it out in some old tank water and it's good to go.
