Does anyone out there have any experience with Bio max inserts? I currently use 2 sponges and filter floss, but was wondering if I should give this a try. It's suppose to increase biological filtration by 30%. They look like small rocks in the bag.

Thanks.

Yes they work. I used ceramic cylinders from other manufactures for years before Hagen came up with the brillant idea. Don't replace every three month as recommended. Use them for ever. They just want to sell more stuff $$$$. Rinse in used aquarium water during changes once in a while. Lava rock does well also. I also float bio chem stars in intake chambers of my aqua clears, these are made for a filstar canister.

Anything that goes in a canister filter can go in an aquaclear thats what makes them so great. A couple filter bags and what ever media you need.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to try it. Do you think it's ok to use two sponges, Bio max and some filter floss? I'd have to use less filter floss so I could fit it all in.

Marineland makes a real nice cut to fit filter pad, its blue. You can even rinse this a couple times and reuse. HBH makes poly fiber cut to fit padding also ,both at petsmart. . two sponges will work fine too.

The poly and marineland pad seems to polish water a little better picks up finer debris. I place between sponge and biomax ect.

I think I've seen them. They come in flat sheets? I asked my lfs about them and they said that they do the same thing as filter floss. Thanks for your help.
