I recently got the AquaClear 70 powerhead however I'm having a problem with the aeration feature. The out-take of the powerhead is about 3" below the surface of the water, however it seems like it's too much pressure for it to get the power to aerate. I've turned it up, however I can't lift the powerhead any further out of the water. When I lowered the water level it worked just fine, however I don't want to always have a low water level just to the powerhead will work properly.

Does anyone have any tips I could use, besides just leaving the water level low?

Thank you for your help in advance.

By looking at their website http://www.hagen.com/usa/aquatic/product.c...=01005700020101
it appears that is the old 802 powerhead. It should easily pull air through the venturi tube.

Try removing the venturi valve that is on the end of the tube hanging out of the tank, this will reduce air resistance. You should be able to blow air through this fairly easily. Make sure the hose is securly inserted into the powerhead, they have a weird ovalish hole in the smaller ones that make it a little tough to insert properly, heating the hose helps to soften it.

Well for some reason it just stopped blowing air again, even at the lower water level that it was operating at for the majority of the afternoon :/

The tube fits perfectly, and I have had the venturi valve removed since it stopped blowing air a couple hours ago. I can very easily blow air through, but it won't pull air through on it's own :(
