AQUABABIES KILL

...They are four fish and a plant in a 4 inch cube of water the fish inside are anything from zebra danios and tetras to male bettas and lobsters this is extremely cruel as the fish barely survive as they cannot grow to their natural size and suffer weird side effects from having no filter system...
Actually they would grow to their natural size, which would be even worse.

I remember these things from the 90's too. At the mall i worked at they had a little kiosk set up where they sold them. All of us who worked at the pet store were horrified and would visit them daily with complaints. We had alot of people come into the store to ask about them. A lot of people left angry, but with proper tanks and supplies, when they found out the truth about aquababies.

I still remember the "care" sheet that came with them. It went something like this

1. Use bottled water to refill the tank when water evaporates.
2. Don't feed them, they'll eat the plant.

I hate aquababies with a passion. I'm glad I haven't seen any for sale in years.

I'm always glad to see a thread started about this horrible subject. There are always new members who have just started out with the hobby and need to be told.

I first learned about African Dwarf Frogs when a friend bought one of these. It was a cute and appealing set up, but something just didn't seem right, no matter what they claimed. With a little internet research, I soon found out about what these wonderful little creatures needed to survive and was able to talk him into setting up better accommodations for it.

I've been crazy about ADFs ever since!
