well it arrived this afternoon and i will go through the basics
was easily unpacked and looked like a eheim professional
easily understood instructions and materials seem to be of good quality
the filter came will all the bits you would expect, the pipe was good quality and was a tight fit to the filter and the spray bar + the inlet pipe
fitting it all together was simple with push in pipes on the filter with screw cap holders
the pipes have a quick release fuction on the tap when you need to detach the filter although this is a bit stiff works fine but would have been better if you had a quick relase bar like the fluvals and eheim pro's
media was inclused with course foam, fine filter pad, carbon foam, and some plastic noodles with fins on them. (also as this filter has the same baskits as the eheim their filter foams can be used or what ever you want)
after attaching all pipes and tubes into the tank and onto the canister (which was a simple push in job) was the time to prime the filter (their is 2 options on the filter models a auto prime and a manual prime) i have the manual prime which consits of filling the inlet pipe full of water with the included spout with the tap off untill it was full and then refitting the cap just a matter of opening the tap and taking out the prime plug which then caused a syphon to fill the canister, once nearly full you close the tap and close the prime and open both taps should get a bit of bubbleing through the outlet and it should start to draw up water.
then its just a matter of turning it on, the flow from the filter is quite good and a little stronger than the 405 but not by much also as the tubes and pipe is green it shows less in the back ground unlike the grey fluvals
what has supprised me was the noise level it is alot quiter than my fluval 405 was which i thought was great
i will up date this if i get any problems or if i need to clean out the filter premiturly
but on the face of it the aqua-pro 3 filter is a great filter if you dont want the outlay of the fluval's or the eheim's
and now my diy
as i didnt get the stand (and really didnt want one) with the tank as i already went out and bought a unit for the job (i think it is alot sterdier and has more uses than a tank stand)
as i found out the shelves in the unit doors either side are fixed in place i was unable to use the cuboards and really didnt want the filter out in the open
i looked at a sutable palce for it
but the problem with this location in the draws and didnt want to leave the filter on show
so i cut the rear off the draws in a way that i could put them back together if the need ever arrised
and now i have a hidden filter and the use of the top draw so i can keep my fishy food in it
well now it looks like it did befor lol
what do you think
