Aqua One tank problems

Just looking for a bit of advice please.

We've had this 37 litre Aqua One tank for a couple of years now in the same location. None of the tropical fish we've had in it have thrived. Some have died, others have been moved to our other larger tank because they've really not looked happy. It's never been overcrowded, we do the regular filter changes and quarter water changes, the water has been tested by us and a pets store (all fine). The water does get cloudy occasionally, that's why there's currently an extra UV filter in there. But even then the fish were not doing well.

I'm just wondering if there's something we're doing wrong with this tank (our other 64litre tank is healthy and thriving), is it the location, or is it just not a good tank?

Tank wise I cannot think of anything that would be a problem. What kind of fish were you trying to keep in the tank, do you know what kind of water you use (in particular how hard is the water), how much activity is around the tank. Although it is entirely possible that the water is being affected by something in the tank that is quite unlikely.

One thing I notice is your tank appears to be near the kitchen, the tank could be getting overspray from cleaning products, cooking food, etc. Again I don't think this is likely but it is possible. The tank is also near the door, do you have a lot of traffic around the door. Some fish do not handle being started often, either from the door, pots being dropped, etc.

Overall, more details are needed to diagnose the issue.

What do you mean by change the filters regularly?

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?

What is the GH (general hardness), KH (carbonate hardness) and pH of your water supply?
This information can usually be obtained from your water supply company's website (Water Analysis Report) or by telephoning them. If they can't help you, take a glass full of tap water to the local pet shop and get them to test it for you. Write the results down (in numbers) when they do the tests. And ask them what the results are in (eg: ppm, dGH, or something else).

What fish do/ did you keep?
