I have noticed since replacing my Internal filter with a new Aqua one External filter that the Inlet and Outlet pipes are getting build-up in the hoses going out the back of the tank stand up to the tank. Is this normal for an external filter ?

The tropical tank is fine apart from moderate Algae build-up on my plants which I am about to rectify.

Also, does it hurt the pump if I partly close the inlet/outlet values so the turbulent is not as noticeable inside the tank.
By closing the values and reducing the flow rate, would this contribute to the build-up in the both feed lines.

150 Lt tank with 30 Watt Aqua Lux 36 lighting (about to replace), no direct sun light.

Thanks in advance

algae in external filters pipes is common you can get long pipe brushes to clean them if you want, and also you should only use the shutoff valve on the output to slow down the flow, not on the input as it creates clogging issues.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I will have a look for some pipe cleans next time im down the pet store.

Reference the shutoff values, the reason why I adjusted both inlet and outlet valves was becuase i thought if the inlet was left open the pump would be taking in more water than it was able to of get rid off causing the pump to leak under pressure or something. Will the pump only draw in enough water until the cansiter is full or will it still run at the constant litres per minute rate of the motor causing a biulup of water in the canister wich may then leak under pressure ?

thanks

Oh, happy easter !!
