Hi.. I recently got my hands on one of these aquariums, second hand. Was previously used for tropicals. Which is what i aim on having..
Am having problems changing the light bulbs, as the two in there have burned out.

I got one bulb out, by force, luckily havent broken anything. Took this bulb with a friend who used to work in an aquatics shop, to get a replacement just for one rather than both. He went and got me one, when i came home, i still cant figure out how to take the other bulb out. Nor can i figure out how to get this new one in.
the problem i'm having with the new one is that it's slightly bigger :S The length of one of those metal caps longer..

but either way, still having problems getting anything out or in.

Any advice please?

Got asked for pics, so thought i'd put them on here..

One on the left is the new one. Can see the extra size?(the end you cant see are both lights level)

My friend said it's just a twist to get the lights off. but they only twist a quarter of the way max? So cant do that.

the lights are designed to only twist about 1/4 if you twist the light to wards you will will then line up the entrance slot on the fixed plastic mount with the bit that moves. in the pic showing the tube that is out hasnt been lined up !!!! and is a 1/4 turn rotated 9in the locked possition. you may need to apply a little force to re allign the 2 points to remove the remainder tube as can get a little corroded over time. . once it is all lined up then the light can then be gently lifted or if has been in a while may need a wiggle.

To put the new lights in it is a case of lining up the 2 prongs that stick out of the light tube with the insert slot on the light fixture and dropping it in gently, once the light tube is in twist it 1/4 away from you and this locks the light in place so it doesn't fall out.

The twist mechanism is a fixing devise to lock the light in place so it doesn't fall out its just a case of lining up the holes. for the one that you forced out you may need to get the inner movable part of the light fixing wisted round so it is in the ope position to allow the new bulb to go in.

Thanks mate..
I was worried about breaking the bulb or the fixings. But i managed to get them off. the bulb sizes are so picky.
But yeah all sorted. Got a new bulb today And it works.
Thanks

No probs at all. there are a fair few sizes and ranges of tubes out there it can be a minefield getting the one that you want and the fish will like, hope it all goes well for you.
