Has anyone got the Aqua One 980 tank? I would like to know if it is ok to leave the powerhead that runs the trickle filter on when doing a water change. I switch it off at the moment because I'm not sure if it will burn out if it is not covered to the top with water. Also I would like some feedback on this fish tank by anyone who owns one as to how they rate it?

Thanks
John

Hi, I have the Aquaone 980.I cant answer your question about the power head, as my water changes haven't taken the water down that far, and i have just left it running
as for rating the tank, i think it looks great, but when you try to do any maintenance at the back of the tank you need rubber arms to reach anything at the bottom or back.

Luckily I have arms the length of an orangutan  I have found the built-in trickle filter to be excellent. Cycled very quickly using fish with no losses and water quality has stayed excellent every since.

Sales woman at the Petshop, where we brought our Aquaone tank from, said to never ever let the water level drop below the powerhead or it'll burn out the motor.
We always turn ours off when doing a water change.
