 am sure a breeding trap would be OK, but keep an eye on him as they are not very big from what I can recall, unless it is one of those baskets?  Does the trap you have exchange the water so he is not in the same water for a long period?

It's a standard marina plastic breeding trap with vents on either side. What I do is stick the thermometer to the side in front of the filter then hook the trap on so the vent is right next to the flow. It's only 30L it will take me about an hour or so I hope. I'm going for the record!

Ah right I will do that then. I don't have any containers as such what about a breeding trap? Put him in there and float in the main tank?

Here is an updated photo of the tank today.  ​

Note I have added a new piece of wood to assist in hiding the intake pipe.​

The moss is growing well on the wood, but not so well on the rock - bottom left - so I am guessing it needs more light.​
