As previously stated, it is meant for a salt water tank. I have never heard of anyone using one of those in a freshwater tank before, but if you are looking for it as a marine filter, try posting in the salt water section

Oh ok,

So would it be dangerous using it on my freshwater tank, as in his ad the seller claims it can be used it freshwater to clear up algee etc?

As previously stated, it is meant for a salt water tank.

It's not purely for saltwater. It can be used to purify water (in the similar way as an RO unit) for freshwater setups.
