Just a quick couple of questions, I have found 3 apple snail sacks at the top of my tank. Roughly how many snails do you think are in each sack? Can I remove them easily? or as I have a couple of clown Loaches in my tank should I just ignore them? I would rather remove tem if possble as they are making me feel sick looking at them!!
Any help or Ideas
thanks in advance

LOADS !. You can just pull the sack off the side of the glass.Wait a day or two and the sack will go hard. This will make it easier.

Hi,

Dont throw them away sell them in the buy sell swap section or on ebay. what colour snails ae they from?

When mine lay eggs i scrape them off after a few days and float them on a piece of polystyrene in another tank, that way you don't have the main tank over run by them. when they hatch they crawl into the water below. www.applesnail.net has articles on how to do this. shops will usually buy the babys for a quid each once they reach a certain size.

Emma :)

Thanks for the advice, Ive fot a spare tank so I think I will try the polystyrene idea, looked at link and I should have enough time time to get tank up and running before they start to hatch.
Found another nest tonight so thats 4
I only have 2 Golden Apple snails so I guess they might both be female and as I have only had then a couple of weeks they were probably already storing. Do you think this will mean that after this lot that will be the end of them? I hope so.

You never know.. they might not even be fertile.. I found 4 clutches about a month ago.. 1 of them hatched 2 weeks ago, the other 3 are still looking the same, so they must be infertile.

Your clown loaches will eat the baby snails though.. so you probably wont have any babies grow up anyways.

Apple Snails are not like most other snails which are hermaphrodites. Apple Snails are sexed either male or female and you need one of each to breed but the females can store sperm from a previous mating for a few months.
http://applesnail.net/content/care.php#breeding will give you more info on this.
