So, I've been hoping my apple snails would reproduce for a while. Today I caught them mating, when do you guys think I should expect eggs??

I tried to find some info about from breeding to laying eggs, but I only found out that anything fro day to one month, since females can store sperm and use it when they like. :D

Anyway, they will lay eggs ABOVE water, and it should stay where it is, not in water. You can spray a bit water on eggs if they are too close to lamp.

Eggs look like a small worm, this is a close up:

Well okay! I can't wait to find them! I was just planning on going to buy some more for my other tanks!

fantastic idea ludwig. I would however say that if your in the UK leaving the eggs on the side and splashing some tank water on the is more then enough. In a hotter climate that bottle idea would work well i think :good: Eggs if fertile will hatch in 14-21 days anything over 28days is prob infertile. A clutch will contain possibly 200+ have you tought what your going to do with them?

I'll probably cut the clutch if it's big, I'll keep 10 or so, and give some to friends, and the rest to a LFS
