Ive heard things about this not being safe from other people.
Is it safe?
Because it's really cute.

my sister has one in her neon tank and they do fine.
they are obviously slim enough not to get stuck

so, if i were you, i would try it.....and keep an eye on it! watch your betta inspect it, and see if he attempts to swim through the holes. if he does, and can get through with out needing to wiggle, then you are fine. if he tries and has to wiggle out, take the ornament out immediately

Ah, I meant that the paint was said to be toxic when I was on youtube and looking at a video of a tank with one.

They just seem like theories, though.

My son's had the pineapple ornament in his tank for over 2 years now with no il effects so I can't see a problem as long as it's an official Spongebob ornament. :good:

It is a good idea to boil all new ornaments anyway - that should kill off any nasties!

Don't do it with a betta - I have one and used to keep it with a betta but the rough surface did real damage to his fins. With long finned bettas you need to use completely smooth ornaments and very soft plants.

Fin with other fish, though, as long as it is soaked in hot water (and I'd use some bleach as well - rinse and allow to air-dry). Also make sure no fish are the same size or slightly bigger than the holes.
