Hi

I was wondering what could be wrong with my female Apistogramma Viejita as she keeps on staying near the heater. Actually she seems more interested about the bubbles going up in the hagen CO2 bubble diffuser.

Around 4 days ago i was very sad as i thought the female had jumped out of the tank and got caught behind the tankstand where i couldnt see. Viejitas are not common around here. I looked all over the tank but couldnt find it (heavily planted). But the next day i found it in BREEDING COLORATION. It was so much prettier than when i got her. I was very excited.

She is still in her breeding coloration, but instead of guarding a batch of eggs, she seems to be guarding the heater, bubble diffuser area. plus she keeps displaying for the male. who displays back but doesnt seem to be as excited.

Could this be her Territory? or has she gone mental looking at the CO2 Bubbles? Are Viejitas Cave breeders or open space like rams?

There is the possiblity that they have spawned and she is protecting the fry though i would have thought you would have seen them if not she may well be getting ready too spawn.

What your water like there?
