im looking for something that gets to about an inch and a half or about 4cm in modern lingo.

i want them to be attractive but to not take anything from the centrepeice fish which will most probably be a sparkling gourami

Hi truckasauras123 :)

Have you looked into any of the Aspidoras species? They are very similar to the dwarf corys but most are more difficult to find.

While there are some smaller corys, like C. tukano, and C. gracilis, from there you almost jump to the 2" length of C. panda. At this size there are also C. axelrodi, C. xinguensis, C. metae and C. reynoldsi and a few others.

C. guapore is a less chunky corys that is almost delicate in appearance and swims at mid level. They would be a very nice fish to keep with your gourami, but while they are not too expensive or rare, are not commonly found at the lfs.
