I got a few clutches and some apple snails from someone today..

I don't really know a lot about hatching the eggs.. heres the setup

the eggs are in a plastic container floating in the tank.. there are holes in the lid.. theres 6-7 layers of knitting board at the bottom of the container, and a bit of water in there too.. the eggs are on top of the knitting board out of the water.. the container is sitting directly under the light of the tank.. the heater in the tank is set at around 79-80'

Does this all sound good?

I was taught to get a Q-tip or something, dip it in water and keep the sides dry every day and sitting right under the light may dry them up if you're not careful

Yea they did get quite hot and dry from being directly under the light.. I removed one of the incandescent bulbs and put the container on that side so it shouldn't get too hot.

i hope you have better luck hatching some than i have, my last 2 clutches have resulted in nothing. they are 6 weeks old and just smelly goo inside, i have no problem getting eggs but getting them to hatch is the trick lol

Good luck i hope they hatch for you.

aload of mine have just hatched!!
i just leave em where the lay them

1 of the eggs hatched already.. I had nothing really to feed it specifically so I put it in the main tank on top of an ornament with algae on it..

I couldn't get it to eat spirulina wafer in the hatching container, so I figured it would be ok in the main tank where there is actually food.

i will basically go around a mature tank eating debris for the first week or 2
