hi woke up this morning to go to school, everyday i take a look at my pond before i go, and this morning there was 4 spawns of this stuff and i saw 3 frogs. Now i thought it was too early for frogs to spwan but im wrong :)

will the goldfish eat it?

i remember last year i had spawn they hatched and there was loads of tadpoles everywhere, after about 3 months the little frogs about 1cm jumping around my garden, it was cool but i knew they would die...I HAVE 2 CATS
and the pond is about 3 foot off the ground so it would be hard for the frogs to get back to water.

you can tell what the weathers going to be like from frog spawn, if its on the edge it will be damp and dull, in the middle sunny :D

:D I would think they are a bit early but I not an expert. My pond is 3 foot off the ground because off my tortoise.. last year I found toad spawn in the pond. It hatched out but a cold spell killed them off. I kept seeing the toads in the pond, large female and small male but they kept being in different places. The female always seemed to be in pond and the male in the garden near the pond in a shallow bowl of water that was used by tortoise. Toads must be able to climb and get under net as well. They were always in pond about same time at night ..dogs were scared stiff of them as they kept moving and spooking them. I hope they come this year..good excuse for not cleaning out pond!! :)

i have 3 tortoises and we had to build steps going up to the pond so they couldnt get into the pond.

 I love my tortoise had her about 26 years...the local pet shop has babies £99 each if I hadnt got so many fish tanks I might get one.

my tortoise are about 25 years old i think, they lay eggs once a year but we havnt got the time to hatch them :/

we hatched out 6 about 5 years ago and we took them to the vets to give them a vaccine to prevent disease or somthing like that and the vet gave them the wrong vaccine and they died :-(
they were the size of a 50p coin soooo cute :look:

are yours mediteranian tortoises?

why dont we start a tortoise post
im sure someone on here has got tortoises :)

Kermit (actually a girl but kids called her that) is a mediterranean (sp?) spur thighed tortoise....still snoring her head off in the cellar at the moment. did you say you work at a school or did I dream it?

Thought you couldn't buy tortoises these days--Thought it was illegal--have I dreamt that???

tortoises are british bred now and are very small..unless it is an illegal transaction..or you have a licence to buy an adult new one.

I have ALWAYS wanted a tortoise a nice little (read big) one to trundle round my garden...hey ho never mind and yes it does say school., but he goes to school not works at one :)
