Hello all,

Below is a picture of my lovely fishy tank (my fish are in my sig or profile i think).

fishtankcompare2.jpg

At the moment I'm really pleased with it but I still want to try and make it better, i'm sure most of you know the feeling i'm talking about :D

Anyway, to cut a long story short i just thought i'd post to cultivate your thoughts on the subject. If you have any suggestions like adding more plants or something else, or have an idea of something you would do if it was your tank then i'd love to hear your suggestions.

It's all in the name of making a nicer home for my fish to live in.

Many thanks,

G.

p.s. please don't be afraid to criticise either, constructive criticism can only help one to improve :D

One criticism i have is that the varigated plants at the rear left of the picture are not actually aquatic plants but are actually a houseplant called Dracaena sanderiana which is often sold to unaware fish keepers by unscrupilous fish stores. They only last a few weeks underwater before the leaves start to fall apart and the plant becomes a soggy stringy mess so prehaps a nice tall aquatic plant to replace them with would be in order, the Draceana can be planted in some moist peat and placed on a window sill.

Very nice tank indeed
I like the lighting as well.
Definitely more cories would be nice and you can perhaps replace the Draceana with some Amazon Swords ?

Thanks for your replies :D

I have thought about getting a couple more corys scot to keep the first two company, great minds think alike :p

CFC, by variegated you mean the white and green ones behind the wood right? Thanks for your advice i'll go find myself a nice tall aquatic plant when I next get to my lfs.

Another cory fan huh bloozoo? Good thinking on the Amzon Swords tho, genius!

Anyone else got their 'two pence worth' to share?

Personally I think it looks great, all I could suggest would be some nice small foreground plants. Keep up the good work Sloth :D

Beautiful tank. It looks like you have some brownish water from the driftwood leething tanins into the water. I love that look. My driftwood doesn't do it much any more so my tank has become much clearer. That's not necessarily a bad thing but I loved the "colored" water. The only change I would make (other than changing the plant CFC refered to and adding more corys) would be to remove the head thing on the right but that's just me. As I said, it really is a beautiful tank.

Normally I don’t like gimmicky ornaments but for some reason this one works well here. Just my opinion of course :p

Hi sloth1984 :)

Your tank is lovely indeed, and I like the head thing too.

It's just the kind of place corys would love to live in. :D
