Or similar, not exactly the same, my lounge is all maple and birch coloured wood so wouldn't have to be dark. I have a 6 gallon tank, I would like to nano it up, but think it would be most awesome with a proper base and canopy. Anyone up to the job? Don't think I am! Wht the dimensions of the tank? I know its not going to be massive at 6gals but it would be good to know. I'll wait to see if anyone else fancies doing it before i offer to do it :) But may be able to do it depending on what you want.

Are you good ;-) I am fussy about quality, has to be as good as in the photographs the dude made :D

Approx. dimensions (but will do properly)
H 26 x W 40 x D 29 cm

Thats why im waiting to see if anyone else offers ;) Im no woodworker you see, so if someone comes along that is then your better to go with them. I could take a couple of pics of bits ive done before to show you i guess if it comes to me doing it. Ive just got to finish the doors on a stand i made for my 4ft tank.

Looks nice, although i HATE the kitchen cupboard handle on the lid!! Bleugh!

Can't be of any use lol but good luck with it, the finished product looks nice :)

Local carpenter is making it for me :hyper:

Wow! :hyper:

Thanks for this thread :good: Glad you got sorted but you have given me one hell of an idea....

Since being made redundant a while back and now working for a fraction of my former wage I have been looking for a project to earn some holiday money. Having a fully stocked workshop in my back garden this idea, for me, has some legs! In the past I have let go some offers of free tanks on the grounds that, even cleaned up are not financially worth the effort to re-sell. However, cleaned up and placed in a cabinet like that (but better of course! I mean, love the way the hinge screws go right through the lid and protrude the other side and oh, that handle!) suddenly it could be worth something!

Mmmmmmmm, now to source some cheap, good wood and blag some free tanks :shifty:

And I for one can vouch for your craftmanship!

Family forum remember

been quoted £40 for real oak canopy and plinth by my carpenter is this a good price?

To me that sounds like an excellent price. I would guess the wood alone is half that cost.

Well he uses off cuts that they throw away in the factory from bigger pieces of furniture, so it's pure profit for him but he will do a good job that's for sure, he actually said the one in the link above was 'hideous' haha!
