Anybody Use Nutrafin Test Kits?

Hey Guys!

Does anybody else use the Nutrafin (Hagen) Test Kits? Does anyone else find it really hard to colour match the Nitrate or is it just me!

Cheers
TIM :good:
yeah i have that problem, try testing your nitrates in your tank against the nitrates in your tap water and see if its lighter or darker, darker do a water change, lighter then dont bother ;)

Yes I've used the nitrite one and the colour was all pink hard to match up.

I find ALL those kits nigh on impossible to suss.... so I get the wife to do it for me

I use it, and yes it is pretty difficult to measure the Nitrate. Most of the colours look the same, but if you put it in the correct light it should make it easier. But I doubt you'll find any test kits which are easier.

I use tetra brand but there expensive and don't do as many tests.
Why does nitrite test 1 always run out before nitrite 2 when you add the same amount of drops.

I can figure out the others. The Nitrite, Ammonia, Phosphate and pH are quite easy to match.. it's just the nitrate that's impossible! I've tested my tank twice tonight hoping for an easier result to read but it's still impossible!!

When it dark I just hold the test tube up to the tank light with the card.

seriously test it against another nitrate test on your tapwater, it will give you a lot more of an idea of what your nitrate levels are, if all else fails then go to your LFS and get a free water test.

I work at an LFS and the Nutrafin tests are the ones we use! :X

I struggle with all the results. Depending upon light the result may change. As long as my Nitrites not pink and my Ammonias not yellow i'm happy.

That's the one test I strugle with too. On the whole, I like the Nutrafin test kit. We use that one as it's the same one our lfs use.

I will stick with my tetra brand.
