Alright, so as it stands my family and I will be moving late this year or early next year (either late december or early january), and we're putting the house up for sale mid-way through May. Now, my parent's think that my fish tanks are going to be "in the way" and "not sell the house", moreso my mom than my dad. My dad has agreed to allow me to bring the tanks down to his office where we already have 2 tanks, a 75gallon african cihlid tank and a 72 gallon reef tank. What will be the easiest way to move my fish safely down there? I know bag them up yada-yada-yada and set-up the tank down there, but I have angelfish and I'm worried about the sudden change in perameters.

The tank has about 15 tiger barbs, 8 red minnor tetras, 11 cory cats (green and albino) a BN pleco, a clown pleco, and 2 angelfish.

Now, the only fish in the tank that I'm really worried about and want to keep absolutly no matter what are the angelfish. Would it be alright if I was to set-up a 10gallon tank just for the two of them with an oversized filter for about a months time well I moved the 55gallon to the office, I'd of course sell the other fish the my LFS except mabye the clown and BN pleco.

Any thoughts or comments or advice would help out alot!

Thanks much in advance guys ^_^

i think a beautiful fish tank would add to the attraction- us mothers are like that though, and you would be much happier in the future if you just agreed and went along with it, cos " if mamma aint happy aint nobody happy" :)

i think maby have the largest most caolarfull tank in the house an then take the other one to the offices it gives you a chance to show off an also brings a calm relaxed to the house an if you puit in one of the houses so so good places then it will take away the emphasis lol anyway good luck mandy

I'm in agreement with my parents so I'm fine moving the tank, but what about the fish? Do you think it's best to set-up a 10gallon tank for the angel fish and hope for the best for them?

Put the fish in a large container or number of ... using the water from the tank ... move the tank ... set it back up ... place previous water and fish back into tank .. job done.

Or is there something stopping you from doing this?

Yea the fact that the office is well over 30minutes away and my dad's 63 and has bad circulation in his legs. So carrying all that water for me is fine. but not for him.

I think I'm just going to setup a 10gallon tank for my angelfish and plecos and sell the rest of the fish to my LFS then move the tank and set it up and bring back the angels in about a months time.

I suppose it depends on how big the Angelfish are....but even so they may get territorial in such cramped quarters and fight. I wouldn't try less than a 30 gal. tank. even for a month.

Well their both kind of small. The bigger one's about 3.5" and the smaller one's about 2". In a 10gallon tank I'd think they'd be ok temeprarily and I mean, I think even the fish would prefer smaller housing opposed to being sold to an LFS will just throw them into any old tank and sell 'em off, that or death from the old home not being set-up right.

have you tested the water parameters at home and the office, what are the differences your worried about?

Hi PRW,

30 minutes won't bother the fish at all, and you don't have to take all the water. Just take what water you can manage and put your filter media in it to keep it wet. When you get to the new sight for the tank, put the water from the old tank in and fill it up with fresh water. Acclimitise the fish slowly and it should be absolutely fine.

I agree that a 10 gallon is no good for angels (unless they are still juvenile) and the move will be less stressful than being stuck in a tank which is too small.

HTH :good:
