I have three post and need to make holes for fish to swim into :( any ideas on how to do this without the pot just smashing?
Thanks
Greg

i think its just hit and hope really mate lol, the pots are cheap anyway so just try different methods.
What i tried once, which worked quite well, was keep chipping away at the surface of the post with a small rock or knife, not too hard but enough to take the surface away, if you do this for a few minutes you should start to get a hole appearing.

Hehe ,
ok its not the price, just the drive that I cba with!
Ok well i dont have a tile cutter looks like hit and hope!
Thanks
Greg

use a dremmal with a cutting disc works wonders but watch your fingers

Stole my idea. That is how it is done, but dont forget the olive oil! this is the bullet proof method for cutting pots. if you dont have a dremmal, you can pick them up for very cheap. around $30

I have just cut two pots in half lenghthways and then cut holes in the front that way you can put them against the back of the tank to take up less room anyway my point is I am a builder and used a 4in disk cutter so if you know any builders offer to make them a cuppa and I am sure you will get your pots cut.

Talking of terracotta pots, "poundworld" are selling "pot men" for 1.99, and they're made up of 21 4cm pots...perfect for the tank :)

lol i used a wood saw, i put the pot in a bucket of tank water, and carefully cut the pot. the water keeps the saw cool and it also, dampens out the shocks as the blade cuts the it. only done it 3 times, but it worked every time.
