Obviously the tank ain't suitable for clowns.

zebra and angelica loaches are neat. They need groups buy they're real cool.

Clown Loach would be fine in a 5ft tank IMO (others will disagree) but watching mine they don't dart about and seem to swim top to bottom more than left to right. I have 13 in a 6ft tank and they are fit and healthy. So I don't see a foot making much difference assuming your tank is a couple of feet wide that is and a good depth 2ft again would be good. Install a power full koralia in there and they will spend all day swimming against the current.

I've got 10 clowns and 10 Zebras in my 5 footer, they spend a fair bit of time chilling during the day and dance / go bananas around 9pm an hour before lights out. The Zebras are MUCH more active at the moment.
