I keep Creamsicle, Dalmation, and Black Mollies in the same tank and I always wondered if they cross breed at some point. Other than the colors they all look similar in sizes and physical makeup so I don't see why they wouldn't. Has this ever happened to anyone, or am I waiting in vain?

They all are the same species. They have ust been bred selectivly. Aslong as theres been a male with them from atmost 3 months ago, you can have babies. Livebearers are known to store sperm for later use. They can and will crossbreed.

Yes they will easily breed as they are still the same species of fish, just different breeds.

However if you have a short fined molly they do not often breed with sail fin's as short finned and sail finnes are different species.

yes they will breed if they have the right conditions

Right you are coool. The right conditions are a food supply, water and a fish of each sex. Mollies are as prolific as any of the common livebearers. As has already been said, the mongrels that we find in a fish shop are all the same. They are not a species but are hybrids of at least 2 species of molly and sometimes more. I actually have some very nice looking creamsicles but have no delusions about them being a particular species. They lost the ability to name themselves a species dozens of generations back.

Thanks guys! I guys I better separate the Creamsicle as I think it crossing with a Black Molly wouldn't be to pleasing to the eye.
