Any idea what these are on my Batman snails???

They are supposed to be in the Nerite family, and not supposed to breed in aquariums…

Sure look like eggs, but much larger, than pest snail eggs

I noticed them on one, a few days ago, now I see them on two, of the 5 in the tank, and they’ve been in there for 3-4 months

This talks about nerite eggs, but I thought they deposited them on the sides of the tank or hardscape… not on each other???

I added a few nerite snail to tanks and then I saw white spots on glass and wood. I searched and learnt that they are nerite snail's eggs. They are hard to remove. When I purchased them, there is no option of male or female snails. Ideally, I would only want male snails. Is there a way to prevent...

Those are nerite eggs. Nothing to worry about. Another nerite came along and laid eggs on this one's shell. This is one of the reasons I quit keeping nerites: They leave those little, bright white eggs everywhere. The don't amount to anything, as the young need brackish water to survive. But I find the eggs unsightly, and yeah, they do take a really long time to decompose and go away.

When they say nerites don't breed in aquariums they mean there will be no baby nerites crawling all over the tank. But it does not mean that they don't actually breed - they do. They lay eggs everywhere but they don't hatch.

The reason a tank won't be overrun with baby nerites is because the eggs hatch - if they do hatch - into a larval stage which needs brackish water to survive. Amano shrimps are the same.

coincidentally, that's an Armano looking at the snail in the 2nd picture... and it's funny, I also have pest snails, & assassin snails in this tank, & those eggs are smaller, & I see them around & on the glass, but I haven't noticed the Nerite snails anywhere but on another snail... so far...

Nerite snails are a great addition to any planted aquarium and they will be really good friends the dwarf shrimp. They do not reproduce in freshwater.
