Hello all.

Depending on what I read, Anubis should either be planted in substrate, or tied to bogwood like Java fern.

Just wondering which you guys have done, and what worked well?

Does it do OK planted?

Steve

if you plant it in the substrate it will die - needs to be attached to something above it.

Yep always make sure they are secured to wood or rocks with it's roots free in the water via an elastic band or something, they should never be covered, I once put an anubias in the crook of a piece of bogwood hoping it would stay until rooted it didn't so I put a little stone onto the roots to keep it put but it just died, I now just secure them with bands and once they grow new roots and adhere to the wood etc you can remove the band  I just got some anubia minima today they are lovely plants :)

I've heard of anubias just being placed on the substrate with the rihozome exposed, though I'd attatch it to something like rock or wood. Cotton, fishing line and elastic bands are 3 ways to do it, though I've also read about a particular type of superglue being used too :good:

Yes you can place it on the substrate but not sure how it stays in place

I had an anubias with a huge root structure and I pushed the roots down into the gravel but left the rhizome exposed. It did great for over a month. I eventually stuck it to wood though.

use super glue gel (cynocrylyte) and glue them too wood or rocks. quick and easy and they wont come free. can even glue it under water

Yeah like m_attt says superglue works great but do not glue the roots, and if it is runny dont do it underwater lol

sorry for dragging this back up guys but can i use any super glue? is there a certain brand you use? and can i use this to also fix other things to wood i.e. moss?

cheers dav.

as i posted further up, super glue gel, that says cycnocrylyte(sp) on the back in the small print. works on moss too :)

Cheers mate. :) sorry never seen the last post laziness is all it was no excuse for not ready the thread. :)

do small drops though and cover it else youll end up with white spots on you wood that stand out untill it grows in.

I use fishing line to attach mine, though make sure it's tied tightly so any fish can't get caught in it
