This plant appears to be thriving in this tank, despite the fact, that the fish are the only caretakers… new leaves on this plant start out brown… is that normal for this family???

I think there is a coffeefola ( spelling ) that I think is known for new leaves starting out brown… not sure of others???

The brown leaf in the center is new, and the stem has grown 3-4 inches in the last week, so assuming it’s a healthy leaf… this is a 24 inch tall tank, so it’s a formidable plant, and been here about a year… it’s slow growing l, but new leaves appear golden brown…

It's normal for some anubias varieties to do this :)

Their new leaves are soft and delicate, and many plants produce redder tones to act as "sunscreen" in response to brighter light. Think of the new leaves coming in protected from damage while they're soft and delicate.
